AutoDraw Intelligence Platform

Teaching software to "read" engineering diagrams.

An AI-assisted platform that interprets engineering diagrams and converts visual information into structured, queryable data.

Overview

AutoDraw Intelligence Platform is a concept and prototype for an AI-powered system that can "read" engineering diagrams. The goal is simple: turn symbols, annotations, and equipment relationships into structured data that can be searched, analysed, and connected to other systems.

The Problem

Diagrams are rich in information, but most of that information is locked in visual form. Engineers spend significant time manually reading, cross-referencing, and updating data based on changes in drawings — a process that is slow, error-prone, and impossible to scale without intelligent interpretation.

The Approach

AutoDraw uses a pipeline of image segmentation, OCR, and AI reasoning to identify symbols and labels, understand relationships between equipment and process lines, and extract structured attributes into a digital model. The workflow covers upload → AI analysis → human review → structured export. A dedicated review interface allows engineers to inspect AI-generated outputs, flag errors, and approve results before they are committed — keeping humans in control at every stage.

My Role

Defined the end-to-end product workflow and user experience. Designed the core AI pipeline concept covering segmentation, recognition, and reasoning stages. Specified the review and correction interface — including how engineers interact with AI suggestions, flag errors, and approve outputs — ensuring the product supports human oversight rather than replacing it.

Impact & Outcomes

Reduces manual extraction and re-entry of diagram data. Creates a reusable digital representation that feeds into downstream systems. Forms the data foundation for more advanced automation, analytics, and digital twin initiatives.
